Making our communities more livable can be
complex. That's why each year we convene experts and residents to take an in-depth look
at how we can be more informed and better equipped to take action on the quality of life in our neighborhoods. The Summit is a
free, half-day conference with breakout sessions, a keynote speaker, and time to network with other neighborhood leaders.
In 2015, Livable Memphis and ioby teamed up to present Engaging in Your Parks & Green Spaces in Memphis Neighborhoods, which focused on how community members can get involved in improving and activating these vital neighborhood places. Participants heard from people doing the work (including nationally renowned parks advocacy program Partnership for Parks from NYC), got fresh perspectives on how residents can engage in the public planning process, and learned about ways individuals can make changes in their own community. Check out the sessions from the 2015 summit, which included a keynote and breakouts led by NYC’s Partnership for Parks.
Each year we pick a different topic related to livability and neighborhood issues, so be sure and check back in 2016 for the next great Summit! Past Summits have covered:
Neighborhoods - Tactical Urbanism and Creative Placemaking
Technology to Make Better Neighborhoods
Cities Livable for Families
Are In It Together - City Suburb Connection
